Publications

Keep abreast of all local dental news with The Journal of the Philadelphia County Dental Society. This premier publication, published electronically four times per year, also helps members find assistance with purchasing or selling a practice, obtaining associates or locating qualified candidates for dental hygiene, assisting and receptionist positions.

Continuing Education

You will have the opportunity to participate in quality CE programs. Members and their staff pay receive tuition discounts for continuing education programs. CE credit is provided; PCDS is an approved provider through the Academy of General Dentistry and the CERP Extended Provider program through the PDA. Most programs are acceptable for your licensure renewal requirements.

Government Relations

The society monitors legislative and regulatory activities relating to health care and speaks for the profession on the numerous legislative actions and issues that affect dentistry.

The Council on Government Relations monitors and reports on more than 5,000 bills introduced in the General Assembly so you can concentrate on your practice.

Members' Lending Library

Issues affecting dentistry are changing rapidly. The Members' Library provides you with a variety of resources to answer your patients' questions, as well as to provide you with the opportunity to gain continuing education in your home or office.

Publications

The bi-monthly Pennsylvania Dental Journal strives to keep PDA members informed on a variety of topics. It contains articles on professional issues, legislative updates, treatment procedures, association activities, special projects, and continuing education courses. The Pennsylvania Dental Advisory communicates time-sensitive or controversial topics that carry a greater sense of urgency or may not be appropriate for publishing in the Journal.

Financial Assistance

The Relief Fund gives grants to needy dentists, their dependents or survivors upon recommendations of the PDA. The Pennsylvania Dental Foundation provides grants to dental students facing financial hardships.

Public Relations

Two of the most visible activities come each February and October, during National Children's Dental Health Month and the Halloween promotion, respectively. Other ongoing efforts include production and distribution of local radio and television public service announcements, news releases and coordination of numerous publicity events.
